Luminus reviews: ratings, real prices and weak spots

Luminus reviews examined: 4.3 on Trustpilot, 3.3 on Google, 7/20 from Greenpeace, and up to €321 a year between its own electricity offers.

ByJulien7 min read

Luminus earns good reviews for its customer service, 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot and the top score from the Flemish regulator, but far fewer for its prices and its energy mix. The useful question, though, is not "Luminus or not". It is this: which of its nine electricity offers did you sign?

What do customer reviews say about Luminus?

Good things about service, fewer about prices.

The Google and regulator scores come from the survey published by CallMePower, a Belgian comparison site, the Trustpilot score from its 26 September 2026 update, and the Greenpeace score from the ranking presented in December 2025. The Vlaamse Nutsregulator (VNR, formerly VREG) is the Flemish energy regulator.

One detail is worth reading before the figures. Selectra, which also publishes CallMePower, displays on its own Luminus pages a statement that it is a commercial partner of the supplier. That does not make its scores wrong. It does make an outside view useful, one that sells nothing, and that is the only angle of this article: we earn no commission, from Luminus or anyone else.

Why 4.3 on Trustpilot and 3.3 on Google?

Because the two platforms do not recruit the same customers. Trustpilot collects a large share of its reviews by invitation, often right after a successful exchange; Google mostly gathers unsolicited reviews from unhappy customers. The Flemish regulator's indicator, which relates complaints to customer numbers, is sounder. But it only covers Flanders, and none of these scores says anything about price.

Is Luminus expensive?

Not necessarily. It all depends on the offer.

We took the nine electricity price sheets published by CallMePower (page updated on 1 September 2026, prices including VAT) and calculated the annual energy component for a Walloon household using 3,500 kWh on a single-rate meter, standing charge included. Network costs and taxes, which are identical whatever the supplier, are not included.

Comfyfixed21.96 c€€65€833.60
Comfy+fixed24.39 c€€65€918.65

Between the first and the last row, the gap reaches €321.05 a year. The same calculation in Flanders gives exactly the same gap, since seven offers out of eight are 0.53 c€/kWh cheaper there, including both extremes. Yet CallMePower's comparison tool, checked on 27 September 2026, puts the best Luminus offer at €1,397 a year, full bill, against €1,295 at EnergyVision, the cheapest offer on the market: a €102 gap. The maths is quick. A badly placed Luminus customer loses three times more by staying on the wrong plan than by staying with Luminus.

The dynamic offer is the exception. Its €91.73 standing charge is the highest in the range, and its estimated price only holds for a household able to shift consumption to cheap hours, which requires a smart meter.

The choice of channel alone also counts. An Online offer charges €25 a year, a classic offer €65, which is €40 a year for the right to call an adviser rather than use the app.

Comparing the offers of a Belgian electricity supplier and their price per kWh
At Luminus, the gap between two offers exceeds the gap with the cheapest supplier.

Wallonia, Flanders, Brussels: three different Luminus ranges

In Wallonia, the range is complete, nine electricity offers, on the grid of ORES, RESA or the other distribution system operators (DSOs) overseen by CWaPE, the Walloon energy regulator. In Flanders, it is identical and slightly cheaper per kWh, but the capacity tariff billed by Fluvius, the Flemish DSO, is added anyway, whatever the supplier. It is also the only region with an official service score.

Brussels is another world. On 21 May 2026, Selectra listed only two Luminus contracts there, both for three years: ComfyFlex at €1,489 a year and Comfy at €1,612 a year for 3,500 kWh. In the September 2026 Test-Achats survey, which we counted for our article on fixed or variable contracts, no Luminus fixed contract appeared any longer for the capital. Check the current offer on the Brusim simulator of Brugel, the Brussels energy regulator, before deciding.

What complaints come up against Luminus?

Four, and they do not all carry the same weight.

  • The price of classic plans. Comfy+ showed 24.39 c€/kWh, the top of the range of Walloon fixed contracts recorded by Test-Achats in September 2026.
  • The energy mix. Greenpeace gives it 7 out of 20 because of nuclear and gas, noting that it is the only major supplier not to have lost points, while Ecopower and Cociter score 20 out of 20.
  • The fixed fee when you leave. Luminus was one of the four suppliers targeted in 2018 by the collective action launched at the initiative of the Energy Ombudsman, which challenged charging a full annual fee to a customer leaving mid-year. The Brussels Court of Appeal halted the procedure in April 2021 without ruling on the merits, and Luminus stated that the fee became pro rata from the second year.
  • The annual adjustment bill. Some customers describe a poorly explained change of reading date or meter: a recurring signal in visible reviews, not a statistic.

None of these points is a deal-breaker. All of them can be checked before signing. The first is fixed by changing plan, the second by choosing another supplier if local green power matters to you, the third by reading the fee clause in the price sheet, the last by taking your own meter reading at each due date.

The best advice fits in one line: if you are a Luminus customer on a classic plan, start by looking at the same supplier's Online plan, then set it against our ranking of the best electricity suppliers and the bill simulator.

Choosing an electricity supplier in Belgium based on reviews and prices

Leaving remains simple and free, with one month's notice: our guide to cancelling an electricity contract explains the steps. To place Luminus against its two big rivals, our head-to-heads Luminus or Engie and Eneco or Luminus complete the picture. If customer service does not settle a dispute, the federal Energy Ombudsman remains free of charge, and the CREG, the federal energy regulator, publishes its price analyses so you can check that yours holds up.

Frequently asked questions

On service, yes: 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot and the top score on the Flemish regulator's complaints indicator. On price, it depends on the offer you signed. Its online plans stay close to the market, its classic plans are among the most expensive. On green credentials, Greenpeace gives it only 7 out of 20.

The Belgian consumer association publishes a monthly price survey, not an overall score. In its September 2026 survey, Luminus BasicFix Online was the only fixed contract whose price fell, while Luminus Comfy+, at 24.39 c€/kWh, sat at the top of the range of Walloon fixed contracts. Test-Achats also runs a complaints platform listing claims filed against Luminus.

Lampiris no longer exists under that name. The Liège-based supplier was bought by the Total group in 2016 and took the TotalEnergies name in 2021. Comparing Lampiris and Luminus today therefore means comparing TotalEnergies and Luminus.

Yes, by a majority. The French group EDF holds about 68.5 % of Luminus, which remains a Belgian company and the country's largest onshore wind producer. That shareholder also explains part of its mix, which Greenpeace still considers too dependent on nuclear and gas.

By phone on 078 155 100 for contract and billing questions, through the online contact form, or via the customer portal and the My Luminus app, which also let you submit a meter reading and change your monthly instalment. The breakdown assistance number is separate.

Yes, four in Wallonia and Flanders in the September 2026 survey: BasicFix Online, MaxxFix, Comfy and Comfy+. Their price per kWh ranged from 19.18 to 24.39 c€ in Wallonia, a gap of more than 5 cents within the same supplier.

Yes. As with every Belgian supplier, the notice period is one month and no termination fee can be charged to a household. Just check the fixed-fee clause in your price sheet: Luminus was one of the suppliers targeted in 2018 by an action backed by the Energy Ombudsman over charging a full annual fee to customers who leave mid-year.

The prosumer tariff does not depend on the supplier: it is set by the grid operator. From one supplier to the next, only the price paid for the electricity you feed into the grid changes. Compare it in the offer's price sheet before signing, and see our prosumer tariff guide for the network side.
