What is a dynamic tariff electricity contract?

A dynamic tariff indexes your kWh price to the Belgian wholesale market, hour by hour. In practice, your supplier applies a price formula tied to the electricity exchange: next-day hourly rates are published the day before, and since 1 October 2025 billing goes down to the quarter-hour. It is the third contract type on the Belgian market, alongside fixed (price frozen for one to three years) and variable (reindexed each month or quarter). The difference in nature matters: fixed and variable sell you an average price, dynamic sells you the price of the moment.
